2024 Diligentia College High Table Dinner
The golden carpet reflected the neat and neat suit, and the blue arches reflected the dignified and ornate gown. The delicate light and shadow, accompanied by the moving camera, decorate this shiny night more dazzlingly.
On the evening of November 14, 2024, the High Table Dinner of Diligentia College was unveiled. This feast is not only a collision of ideas but also a blend of friendship and laughter.
01 Eight Years With Ligh
The applause rose and fell like a warm tide in the venue, welcoming the guests who entered the banquet hall.
The song “ A Window to the World” was played, and familiar images appeared on the screen of the banquet hall one by one. “The breeze blows the roof of the Daoyuan Building; Who welcomes the new person to play the piano at the tea party......” The beautiful melody slowly sounded, and the plaque of the Diligentia College under the blue sky appeared in our minds, which complemented the bright walls. The students sang the song together, containing deep emotions and endless memories.
The lights in the banquet hall gradually dimmed, and the dance “State of Etiquette” slowly unfolded like an artwork. The Diligentia Dance Team took us to relive the elegance and solemnity passed down for thousands of years in China. The so-called “State of Etiquette” is not only a symbol of culture but also the inheritance of the soul. Today, we gather together to go to an exchange event of “Connecting all Regions”. May we continue to move forward on this land of culture full of respect and tolerance, and work together to build a better future.
02 The Light Guides Us As We Sail
Delicious dishes and wines were waiting for us. Learning from all regions, and aspiring to the world.
Professor GU Yang, Dean of Diligentia College, delivered a speech amid warm applause. She pointed out the importance of communication and integration between different regions and cultures in the context of globalization. In addition, Prof. GU reviewed the efforts of Diligentia College to promote multicultural exchange in whole-person education in the past year, especially mentioning that students have broadened their horizons and strengthened their sense of social responsibility through various practical activities, and called on everyone to expand the boundaries of life and embrace the broader world through learning and communication.
Then, Prof. GU introduced the speaker of the high table dinner — Professor MEI Ciqi, the Dean of Xinya College of Tsinghua University.
Prof. MEI, Dean of Xinya College, Tsinghua University, shared a speech on “Seeking Prevention from the Process: A Function of General Education that Should Be Valued”. He first discussed the concept of “self-reliance” in general education, pointing out that this is the intrinsic pursuit and strength of professional education. Subsequently, he put forward a profound thought: whether general education should pursue “self-reliance”. It was worth reflecting that the original intention of general education may not be in this. He cited several examples, such as the “one-thing plan” and WANG Yangming’s concept of “honing on things”, emphasizing the use of “small destruction” to achieve prevention by focusing on life and process rather than mere results. He left a message to the teachers and students present, encouraging everyone to look down on the certainty of “being at ease” and inspiring them to pay more attention to personal growth and inner development in their studies and lives.
Prof. MEI’s passionate speech not only ignited the atmosphere but also gave everyone more motivation and confidence to find a new growth path. In the applause, Prof.GU, Dean of Diligentia College, presented Prof.MEI with a certificate of appreciation for the speaker of the high-table dinner and took a group photo together.
03 Work Hard to Aspire to the Worl
The Diligentia Choir performed a song, “Try Everything” to everyone. The music echoed in the hall for a long time. The warm companionship and sincere blessings turned into wisps of singing, seeping into the bottom of my heart and leaving a deep imprint. The sky is high, and the earth is wide; let us soar. As long as we firmly believe that the ideal is ahead, we can sing and march thousands of miles.
Mr. K.C. Yuen, Vice President of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), led all the guests to raise a glass with enthusiasm: “At this exciting moment, let us celebrate the 8th anniversary of Diligentia College, and with Diligentia College will be better and better. Let’s toast to spend the good night.”
The guests talked and laughed. Everyone spoke freely here, shared each other’s feelings, and narrowed the distance between hearts. Every smile, every blessing, made the night unparalleled.
